According to "the sciences", everything there is, is by chance. By chance there was a big bang, by chance there was something that would bang, by chance there was time and space where the big bang could take place, by chance out of the chaos of the bang came ordered systems with complex orbits that neither decay or expand (no matter how eccentric) by the trillion, by chance the elements grouped together rather than being scattered into a common mixture throughout the universe, by chance some of those masses formed into a sun and an earth which had perfect climate, gravity, hours of light, and temperature, by chance those elements aligned themselves in such a way that a DNA (containing ordered code in it, comparable to 20 sets of Britanicas, precisely spelled out) was formed that could reproduce itself, find something to eat, design a way to produce improved offspring,... Well, so far, what we have is comparable to hitting every lottery, without ever buying a ticket. It would be far easier to conclude that there is an artist at work, a Grand Master Artist at that. So, where does that leave us? If we decide there must be a God, then who is He?, and can such an awesome creator be known? If so how closely? The bible speaks to all these questions. It says:
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. John 14:23
So, according to the bible, there is a way to know God, and in a very personal way. What about other religions? It seems to me that 99% of religions teach that there are many paths to the knowledge of God, and most of them even teach that Jesus was a great teacher or prophet, even one of the greatest, but if we look at what He taught, there is a conflict with this philosophy. Looking again at the bible, we see a quite exclusive or even narrow path, it says:
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
Another among many, many more:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
So why don't we automaticly just know Him? Again looking to the bible we find answers:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 1st Corinthians 15:21-22
So we need to be restored to God so that we can be in his presence, maybe this explains why there's something wrong with the world. As a matter of fact this is answered in the bible too:
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 3:17-19
What must I do to be saved? This question was asked in acts 16:
And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:27-31
Other notes:
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:13-19
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:14-16
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21
